Prayer Calendar February 2012

‘So the man went away and began to tell… how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed’. Mark 5:20

1

BRAZIL  Lynne McLeavy  “15 children will hopefully start school at the Word of Life College on the 16th January - they are being sponsored.  It is a great opportunity for each of them, please pray that their parents will take their responsibility seriously and do their part by taking their child to school."

BRAZIL Maureen Sharratt  “Please pray for us as we plan for 2013. We are very short of workers still.”

KENYA  Martin & Claudia Bussey  “Martin is due to return to Kenya on Feb 7th after visiting churches in the UK for 3 weeks. Teaching begins again on Feb 20th: Theology of Christ and Salvation.  His work permit has been submitted, but nothing has been heard so far. During Feb, he is due to take up the role of elder in the church he and Claudia attend: International Christian Fellowship.”

PAPUA NEW GUINEA Rosie Crowter   “I'd love to get good progress on writing  this month - Genesis Bible study notes part 4 are due - but not started. The booklet on relationships for youth needs finishing. PPP Deuteronomy editing continues. The women’s policy needs re drafting. Then there is the next Rural Training Course to start writing. So please pray for some quiet moments to get on with some of these.”

SLOVAKIA Heledd Job (IFES)  “Jan 29-Feb 5 we are running a student winter camp. The theme of the camp is "Because of Jesus" and we will be looking at different portraits of Jesus throughout the Bible. Please pray that students would be encouraged and would fall more in love with Jesus.”

THAILAND Johnny & Ann McClean “Please pray for our involvement at the Church Weekend Away from 24 – 26 February. This will be the first time we have spent time away with all the church members. We are both taking part in a men-women seminar and Johnny is preaching on Sunday.”

3

PERU David & Bertha Barnes  “We give thanks to God for the expansion of our network of mobile Bible institutes. Please pray as Juan Romayna and I hope to meet with interested church leaders in Pucallpa (central jungle), Piura (northern coast) and Huancavelica (central highlands). Please pray too that we may be able to find a car to buy within our budget.”

BRAZIL Bron Hewett  “Praise the Lord for a very successful vein surgery on both my legs. I am back in Arame, visiting the villages and preparing for my 6-month home ministry in England which begins in April 2012.  Pray for the six Guajajaras who return to Barra do Corda on the 6th Feb for their second and final year of studies at the Carl Harrison Bible Training Centre. Pray for Darlene, one of the students, who will have her baby during the first weeks of this term.”

4

UK/BURKINA FASO  Alan & Pauline Ashmore  "Simon has just returned from Senegal after 2 years’ service as a WEC trekker, please pray that he will know the Lord's direction for his future.  The Foodbank should also have just opened - we are very excited but please pray we will get it right, be efficient, show the warmth of the love of the Lord to all who come through the door and find the right words to proclaim the good news of the gospel. We are starting a "Bible Coffee morning" as an outreach in a chapel in our village on 8th Feb also."

ITALY Huw & Alison Williams  “We're really excited about our new series "The Bible in 10".  Everyone in the church from the children in Sunday School to the adults in the service will have a 10 week Bible overview. Please pray that people will have more confidence in the Scriptures as they grasp the big picture. Pray also that non-believers would be drawn to the God we meet in the pages of the Bible.”

5

ISRAEL Phil & Angela Hill  “The main point for prayer at the moment is that we are about to launch a new MA in Theology which can be taught and marked in Arabic. It will provide both theological education and practical skills for ministry. Please pray that this will encourage pastors and ministry candidates for training who cannot cope with studying in English.”

IRELAND Shaun & Tania Abrahams Praise God for blessing the start to the Killorglin Church plant. We started with 22 on the Sunday 15th Jan. Frank Coffey preached the first sermon ‘Adoption the believer’s highest calling’ and this week I spoke on ‘The importance of Truth and Trust in the family of God’. It was so meaningful to celebrate the Lord’s Supper together as a church for the first time.”

BRAZIL  Gerda Buhler (DMG)  “In February I have much work before me, selling and giving away my belongings. On the 28th of February I will return to Germany after nearly 42 years here in Brazil.”

BELGIUM Lucy Haslam (IFES)  “Praise God for good resting and family time over Christmas and for three tiring but rewarding weeks of fund-raising and recruitment. Please pray for potential IFES team members in Brussels next year, for continued fund-raising and for a good start to the new semester, especially with one staff member leaving us at the end of January.”
