CHELASHAW NEWS, SEPTEMBER 2017

Dear Friends,

We are so grateful for your prayers as we settle into life in Nairobi. We had a wonderful send-off from East Dean, a smooth journey and a happy welcome from Kip’s family and our friends and hosts Chris and Janice. We then had a week of illness but are now better and thankful to be staying with Chris and Janice in a lovely part of town. It has been good chatting with them and learning from their insights into life in Kenya. The children are enjoying the garden and have become enthusiastic in practising their Swahili. Praise the Lord for the way He has been looking after us at this time of transition.

House-hunting + Arrival of Car and Container

Our first big job here is to find accommodation in Loresho, the area we hope to church plant. We have looked at various apartments, but very few have a garden. Houses with gardens are more expensive to rent than we have budgeted, but we have seen one or two possible ones. One of these is in a gated complex of houses, and is surrounded by new apartment blocks. Another is just near to 3 primary schools.  Please pray that the Lord would lead us to the right place. Pray that we will be able to get to know our neighbours and the surrounding community and invite people for Bible study. It has been exciting to drive around Loresho and see the potential there is for people to be reached with the gospel and good Bible teaching.

Please pray for ongoing patience and heavenly wisdom

Our car and container are due to arrive in the next few weeks.  Please pray that these would be cleared without extra cost and pray for Kip’ as he travels to Mombasa to receive the car.

Church Fellowship, Family, Country, Outreach

We were discouraged by our first visit to a local church, but have since found good teaching and fellowship at an international church near to where we’re staying. Praise God for His provision.

It has been good for Kip’ to see more of his family. There are clear discipleship needs within the family which he has been seeking to address. Please pray for ongoing patience and heavenly wisdom (James 3:17-18).

Kenya is going through an unsettling political time due to the recent presidential elections results being annulled. Please pray for peace as the country goes to the polls again on 26th October.

Kip & Rachel

Finally pray that God would embolden us by His Holy Spirit so that in all our conversations we may seek to proclaim Christ clearly.

Thank you so much!

Kip’, Rachel, Elijah, Ezra, Susanna and Bethany
