Ministering to Somalis and serving in a local church in Kenya

Among Kenya’s 42 tribes, the Somali tribe – which is predominantly Muslim – is the sixth-largest ethnic group in the country. It is the least reached of all the tribes in Kenya.

I will be working in Nairobi, reaching out to the Somali community with the gospel. The Somali in Kenya number nearly 3 million people, yet they remain one of the least reached with the good news of Jesus Christ. The vast majority are Muslim, and in many Somali-majority areas, Christians are outnumbered more than 100 to 1. Despite their growing presence in Nairobi, there are very few workers engaging Somalis with the gospel. As a local church, we have seen this great need and are committed to sharing the gospel and raising workers to reach the Somali people.

I am working in Nairobi because there is a great need to reach the Somali people with the gospel.

Alongside my focus on Somali outreach, I am also involved in church ministry and training within our local congregation. My hope is to see a vibrant Somali fellowship established in our church – or even a new Somali church planted.

I am excited to serve where the unreached can be reached, discipled, equipped with the gospel, and trained to become gospel workers – some serving in local communities and others returning to Somalia with the good news of Christ.

Our aim is to heed Christ’s call to make disciples of all nations, equipping them to make more disciples. By God’s mercy, I pray that He would be pleased to work through His Word to bring many Somalis into His fold – and through them, reach many more. It would be my great joy to see Somali believers growing in faith, being trained in God’s Word, and planting churches – both here in Kenya and back home in Somalia.

I’m is a follower of Christ, passionate about proclaiming the kingdom of God to all nations for the glory of God. Having been trained and served with local churches in both Kenya and London, I am now serving in Nairobi – engaged in gospel outreach among the Somali community and involved in pastoral ministry within my local church.

It would be my great joy to see Somali believers growing in faith, being trained in God’s Word, and planting churches!
