A fantastic opportunity to provide practical support wherever it’s needed, always at the invitation of, and in partnership with, national churches and projects.
In Luke 7 we read of a Roman centurion in Capernaum whom the Jewish elders warmly commended to Jesus. They told him, “He loves our nation and has built our Synagogue.” Jesus commended the man’s faith and healed his servant. This incident provides the inspiration for a UFM’s Operation Centurion ministry.
Operation Centurion teams have undertaken projects in Brazil, Burkina Faso, France, Ivory Coast and Moldova. The work so far has included building an orphanage, classrooms, and houses for adults with disabilities.
Playing a small part in what God is doing
A previous participant explained, “the tasks were familiar; put in a staircase, install some double glazing units, and erect stud partitions in some of the rooms. However, to achieve the results was quite a challenge; no builders merchants to order materials, but doing everything from scratch stretched our ingenuity! All of us learned a lot and enjoyed meeting folk from a completely different culture, but most of all being able to play a small part in what God is doing in that place.”
