Paul and Susie Chatfield
Why Europe?
Europe is now the continent with the fewest percentage of evangelical Christians, and it is increasingly harder to be taken seriously if you profess Christ. The universities, once founded to know God and his plan for the world are now amongst the most secular institutions in Western Europe.
Paul and Susie have a passion to make Christ known in this culture of disbelief, particularly in Italy. Paul serves as copastor in a local church and loves giving outreach talks outside of church too, while Susie provides pastoral care at the church and in the community.

Tell us about your church in Turin, Italy
The International Church of Torino is the main English-speaking church in the city. It is a strategic church reaching out to those with university backgrounds, in the language of academia (English), seeking to establish the ongoing relevance of the Christian message and help people worship the Lord.

An exciting church
It can have much energy and enthusiasm, so the International Church of Torino is an exciting church to be at, albeit a work in progress. Elders have been recently established and further plans are afoot to help it grow.
Currently, the church receives mission workers; pray that it would not just be independent of mission workers, but one that can send mission workers in the future.
At present, we have an open door unrivalled in Europe, but I don’t know for how long that it will remain open.
About us
Paul Chatfield used to work as an English teacher for foreigners and then lectured in Statistics. He’s since trained in Theology and Psychology and has been pastoring or doing outreach or both since coming to Italy in 2011. Susie Chatfield worked as a nurse for many years before they married in 2024 where together they now care for ICT. Having seen brokenness each in different ways in the past, they long to help people move and grow towards wholeness in Christ and with one another.
