Supporting families and vulnerable women in northern Madagascar

The Tsimihety people of northern Madagascar live in hundreds of small, remote villages, where many still have little access to the gospel. The Good News Hospital in Mandritsara serves this vast rural region, where people often travel for hours or even days to reach reliable and compassionate care.

The Good News Hospital

The Good News Hospital began in 1988 through a partnership between Malagasy churches and international mission workers, with a vision to combine healthcare with evangelism and church planting in the Mandritsara district. Today, the hospital provides care for a population of around 300,000 people. The work has expanded to include a school, community health programmes, Christian radio ministry and local church outreach across the region. The team also runs a social project supporting vulnerable women through work with raffia. Over the past 30 years, around 70 small churches have been planted as the team continues to share the gospel each day in the clinics, on the radio, at the school and in the villages.

Vision and calling

Anna first heard about the Good News Hospital when some members of her church moved to Mandritsara to support healthcare and evangelism. Through their prayer updates, she began learning more about the Tsimihety people and the work of the hospital. After learning about the need for homeschooling support for families, as well as the work of the Raffia project, she felt the Lord was leading her to serve in Mandritsara.

Ministry

In Mandritsara, Anna will support families as they homeschool their children and contribute to the work of the Raffia project, which supports vulnerable women in the community.

Anna is a social worker with an interest in supporting women. She also enjoys working with children at church. She is looking forward to using her experience and interests to support families and vulnerable women in Mandritsara.
