Ed and Katie Houghton

Theological training and language learning in Brussels with a view to serving long-term in France

Around 1.3% of the French population is evangelical Christians.
French speaking countries remain among the least evangelised in Europe. We are excited to draw alongside the French church in discipling Christians and holding out the gospel to those who don’t yet know Jesus.

Ed has had a heart for ministry in French-speaking Europe since spending his year abroad in Belgium during his time at university. Since getting married in 2024, we have become excited about the possibility of serving abroad together. We plan to spend three years in Brussels doing theological training and language learning, and then move to France to serve the church over there.

Our vision

Ed will be studying at the Brussels Bible Institute, and Katie will be learning French, as well as looking after their son, Samuel. Long-term, we would love to serve the church in France in whatever way we can be useful. We have a heart for evangelism, student ministry, bible teaching and training.

About us

Ed has been teaching French and Spanish at a school in Worcester for the past twelve years, and is a keen Manchester United fan. He has also served as an elder at his church in Worcester for the last four years. Katie has spent the last few years teaching Maths and enjoys going for long walks or runs outdoors.
