Ger and Kathy McNamara serve some of the most vulnerable people across Eastern Europe. In each of these countries, children are at risk of being trafficked. By educating children, along with social workers and teachers, they help prevent trafficking before it happens.
They also minister to those suffering trauma caused by the war in Eastern Europe, helping individuals and families find healing, restoration and ultimately hope in Christ. Many of these nations continue to struggle with the aftermath of communism and face challenges such as corruption, war and economic hardship. The hope of the Gospel is desperately needed.
Vision and calling
Ger and Kathy have a deep desire to share the good news of Jesus with those who have lost hope. They feel called to serve through sharing God’s Word, counselling, offering practical support and planting churches.
Having had the privilege of planting churches in Győr, Szigetvár and Veszprém in Hungary, they have witnessed the transformative impact these churches have on individuals, families and communities. Working alongside established churches and Christian organisations in Slovakia, Moldova and across Eastern Europe enables them to extend their reach and strengthen the spread of the Gospel.
Their ministry focuses on church planting, discipleship and preventing human trafficking. Ger and Kathy have a particular passion for serving and educating young people, helping them recognise the dangers of trafficking and discover the life-changing hope found in Jesus Christ. They long to see communities transformed as people encounter Christ and find hope in the risen Lord.
About Ger and Kathy
Kathy was born in Hungary, and Ger in Ireland. Together, they have been serving in Hungary and the wider region for over 25 years. During this time, the Lord has established three churches in Hungary and opened doors for them to connect with a growing network of believers and churches across Central and Eastern Europe.
Ger frequently travels throughout the region to provide trauma care and counselling for soldiers and families affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Kathy serves in prayer and Bible study ministry, walking alongside women in their faith journeys.
They have three married daughters and several grandchildren, with whom they love spending time whenever possible.
