Jonathan and Clare Skipper

Evangelicals in Spain lived under an oppresive dictatorship as recently as 1975

The gospel needs in Spain are huge; in a traditionally Catholic but often radically secularised country, the Evangelical church is small (but growing), incredibly diverse and widely misunderstood.

Spain needs workers for the harvest field: pastors, evangelists, church planters, student workers; as well as Christians equipped for mission at work and in every day life. Spain needs many workers, and well-prepared workers.

Alongside churches, theological institutions such as the Escuela Evangélica de Teologia (EET) and the Facultad Internacional de Teologia IBSTE, play a crucial role in preparing men and women for ministry.

Our desire is to use the gifts God has given us to train and equip Spanish believers in their own walk and service of the Lord

Spain has been in our hearts for over 20 years. We spent 10 years involved in student ministry in Barcelona before moving into new areas of ministry. Clare’s heart is to teach children, encourage women in the Word and share God’s grace in the community. Jonathan’s vision is to support others as they train for ministry through resourcing, mentoring and teaching.

Jonathan’s main ministry focus is at the International Faculty of Theology IBSTE. IBSTE is a residential theological college and students come from the whole of Spain and beyond to study a 4-year degree in Theology. He will combine working as the librarian (with a particular brief to implement a new vision to the library) with mentoring students and teaching classes, alongside studying towards a Master in Theology. Other ministry opportunities will include preaching and teaching in our local church and with the online college EET.

Clare serves in ministry with women and children in our local church, as well as teaching English to children in the local community.
