José and Sarah Caicedo

Ministering to seekers and discipling new believers in Barcelona

“Our long-term vision is to see unreached people groups in Spain reached through the planting of healthy, Bible-centred and loving churches.”

Sharing the gospel with a spiritually hungry generation

Spain is a challenging context for the gospel, with secularism strong and many people suspicious of Protestant Christianity. Yet, among the young adults José and Sarah are reaching, they are encouraged to see a genuine spiritual hunger and a desire for something real and authentic.

Why Barcelona?

José and Sarah are based at Bethel, a Global Methodist Church in Barcelona, where they primarily work with young adults (primarily Gen Z). Through relationships, personal testimony and sharing life together, they seek to help people explore the Christian faith and discover the truth of God’s Word.

They have seen people open up Scripture and begin to have their preconceived ideas about God challenged. Alongside evangelism, they help new believers grow in their faith, while recognising the very real challenges they face, including social opposition, financial pressures and loneliness. The young people they work with also face struggles such as sexual identity, addiction and family dysfunction.

Vision and calling

José and Sarah believe in the power of God’s Word to transform lives. They are passionate about helping new believers become established in their faith and equipping them to share that faith with others. They have a particular connection with Spanish and Latin American communities through José’s background, while seeking to reach people from all nationalities.

Their long-term vision is to see unreached people groups in Spain reached through the planting of healthy, Bible-centred and loving churches.

Ministry

José and Sarah teach, disciple and facilitate seeker and growth groups, while also supporting the local church through preaching, pastoral care, young adult ministry and mercy ministries. Their aim is to equip and strengthen a new generation of believers to thrive in their faith and reach and disciple others.
