Involved in evangelism, discipleship, hospitality and medical ministries at Kiwoko Hospital, Uganda

Kiwoko Hospital is a Christ-centered mission hospital in central rural Uganda. It’s motto, ‘We treat … Jesus heals’, is central to the practical outworking and sharing of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Founded in 1988 under a tree in response to the devastation of two civil wars, and surrounded by evidence of genocide and people in despair, Kiwoko Hospital has grown significantly. Now more than 400 staff provide care for approximately 70,000 patients each year.

Built on a strong Christian foundation, evangelism and medical help go hand in hand. In seeking to bring health and healing, Kiwoko Hospital also seeks to meet the spiritual needs of patients and to be a light to the people of Luwero and all those who pass through.

Our roles

Having been interested in cross-cultural mission for many years, God opened the way for us to move as a family to Kiwoko Hospital in March 2017. Since then our roles have changed and developed, as we have desired to share the good news of the Gospel in word and deed.

Linda uses her skills as a GP in teaching and working in the busy OPD (comparable to an A&E) and diabetic clinic. In recent years she has been helping lead Sunday School in the church on compound, with 30-60 children attending weekly.

Stephen looks after the volunteers and visitors, including many medical elective students, alongside helping to lead the on-going ministries of evangelism, discipleship and Bible training.

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Col 3.17)

Our family

Joel, Oliver & Timothy are very settled and call Kiwoko ‘home’. They have developed some strong friendships, and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and freedom of living in a large compound.

Since moving to Uganda, the boys have been home-schooled using a variety of resources, with the older boys becoming more independent and studying some subjects online. Over the years we have had a number of home-school volunteers who have provided great help.

We are looking for others to join us to help with home-schooling Timothy (starting Year 2 in Aug 2024).

Pray with us:

  • That the hospital’s motto would remain it’s focus: “We treat … Jesus heals”.
  • For the building up of the Ugandan team at the hospital, particularly those involved in leadership and ministry
  • Our personal walk with the Lord, and our witness as a family living for Him
