Ministering to the Arab community in London and the Middle East

Being involved in people’s lives brings opportunities to share the good news of Jesus

There are more than 1.5 million Arabic-speaking residents in London, plus 1 million visitors every year. Troubles in many Middle Eastern and North African countries have brought Arabic-speaking people to the UK to live as refugees and asylum seekers. These individuals can often become lonely and depressed, and need practical support in settling into a different culture and country.

A hospitality and caring ministry is the key to rebuilding their lives. By becoming involved in people’s lives, opportunities arise for Yosry to share the gospel. For many people, this is the first time that they hear the message of the gospel and receive the word of God.

Caring for persecuted Arabs, both practically and spiritually, is close to Yosry’s heart.

Yosry has a wealth of experience in sharing the gospel with different Arab cultures

Originally from Egypt, Yosry has spent 33 years working with London City Mission among Arabic-speaking people on the streets of London. He has much experience in sharing the gospel with different Arab cultures from the Middle East and North Africa.

Yosry is involved in different types of outreach, including street and open air evangelism, a pavement café and book table ministry, one-to-one discipleship, evangelism training ministry, and preaching and teaching the Bible in the UK and the Middle East.

Hospitality and an open home

Yosry and his wife Esther regularly open their home for hospitality to many Arabic-speaking people. Arabs often suffer great personal cost when coming to faith in Christ. It is not unusual for Christian converts to face persecution, threats of violence, and total exclusion from their family and community.

Distribution of God’s word

Yosry has written a book, Questions in the Way of Faith, to answer some of the challenging theological questions asked by those he meets. Printed in seven languages (Arabic, English, French, Farsi, Kurdish, Spanish and Turkish), it enables Yosry to share the gospel with both Arabs and non-Arabs who do not know about Jesus.
