Serving God’s church in eastern Germany
Once eastern Germany was the hub of the Reformation and Martin Luther’s famous posting of the 95 Theses on the door of All Saints’ Church Wittenberg in 1517. Today, eastern Germany is one of the most atheistic parts of the world. The church here needs to rediscover the gospel and hear God speak as his word is expounded.
Our city
Leipzig is a growing city of over 600,000 people but fewer than 5,000 attend church. 80% of Leipzig residents claim no religious affiliation. People don’t seem to care about religion in general, nor do they know that they need Jesus.
The city is full of students, along with many internationals studying and working here. The city also has many young families.
The people of Leipzig need to hear Jesus speak – as his gospel is proclaimed – calling them from death to life.
We’re in Leipzig because we believe God’s Spirit builds God’s church as God’s word is shared.
Our calling
We are both originally from England; we got married in 2014 and, in 2020, became the happy and tired parents of Zoe.
Larry has loved Germany since he started learning the language as a teenager. As his desire to preach God’s word grew, God called him to train for ministry in Germany.
Sinead has always been passionate about world mission and loved her time serving students with UCCF. She moved to Germany because that’s where Larry was! But also because of the great spiritual need and abundant opportunities to help equip God’s people to grow in Christ.
Our role
We serve at Leipzig English Church, where Larry is assistant pastor. We are both passionate about opening up the Bible in 1-2-1 discipleship.
Since 2018 we have also been involved in establishing InterAction Germany (a bilingual youth camp).
Sinead is involved with biblical counselling training and also works with the IFES Europe ministry.
