Ministering to the congregation and families at Christ Church Loresho, Nairobi, Kenya.

While 83% of people in Kenya claim to be Christians or have Bibles, most people don’t understand the Bible’s central message about Jesus. This lack of understanding is largely due to the appeal of the ‘prosperity gospel’ whose teachings are found all over Kenya. The prosperity message has taken people away from the truth and poses the greatest challenge to understanding the true gospel in this land.

The results of the past four centuries of error and heresies due to shallow Bible teaching, are now shockingly evident everywhere in Kenya. There’s a massive need for truthful, faithful and consistent Bible teachers, who are in local churches led by servant-hearted pastors.

Christ Church Loresho is a growing vibrant church plant which is striving to teach and preach God’s word faithfully in Nairobi. The people joining our congregation on Sunday, or for weekly fellowships, come thirsty and want to be helped to understand  the Bible. God is powerfully working to give new life to many.

Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” He answered, “How can I understand unless someone explains it to me?” (Acts 8:30-31)

Many people in Kenya will not be able to understand the Bible well unless someone helps them. I am passionate about preaching Christ Jesus and teaching the Bible to those who join our congregation in Loresho.

Serving as a gospel worker in Kenya is really a passion in my heart. Through Christ Church Loresho, I will be able to evangelise seekers, share the gospel, and pastorally serve the church family through Bible teaching and practical pastoral duties.

My heart is to see many people knowing, following, and living for Jesus in Kenya. I want to see a congregation equipped to witness Jesus to their friends, neighbours, and colleagues. Through the apprenticeships I have done and the ministry training I have received from iServe Africa and at PT Cornhill, I’m excited to help many hear the voice of Jesus our Chief Shepherd.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:36)

I became a Christian at a young age and since then God has continued to put the light of his gospel into my heart. As a follower of Jesus, I rejoice in the good news of Jesus’ salvation: his sacrificial death and glorious resurrection is the great hope for a dark world, and I desire to make this same saviour known in Kenya.

Christ Church Loresho will be a great place to develop my gospel ministry: I will be serving among families, doing evangelism in the neighbourhood, preaching on Sunday, doing pastoral visiting, reading the Bible with people one-to-one, leading Bible studies, helping with in-house training, and serving in a range of church pastorate duties.

Ministering at Christ Church Loresho will be a wonderful preparation for my long-term aim of planting a reformed evangelical church in another part of Kenya.

… and other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. (John 10:16)
