Supporting pre-field missions training, for the purpose of gospel clarity in cross-cultural church planting
Approximately a third of the world’s language groups live without access to the message of Jesus Christ in their mother tongue.
However, a significant number of missionaries leave the field within their first decade, before a lasting gospel witness has been established.
Missionaries can serve longer and more effectively with intentional, practical training which supplies the understanding and the skills that will enable them to survive the rigors of long-term cross-cultural living.
Radius International missionary training school
Radius International is committed to assisting the evangelical church and missions community by providing pre-field missions training that will equip cross-cultural workers to establish healthy, indigenous, reproducing churches among unreached language groups.
One of the main components of the training at Radius is ‘Culture and Language Acquisition’ (CLA). Learning language and culture well is essential because it enables church planters to fully integrate in the community, build strong relationships, and teach at a level that impacts people’s underlying beliefs; all with the ultimate purpose of gospel clarity and a faithful church being established.
Providing the training in Mexico gives students the unique opportunity to experience and work through many of the challenges that they will face on the field.
My role
Many years ago the Lord gave me a burden for people who have no access to God’s Word or the gospel in their language. I praise the Lord for leading me to serve at Radius, a place which exists specifically to equip believers to plant churches in those unreached language groups.
It is a huge privilege to be directly involved in training and investing in individuals who will, by God’s grace, take the good news to those who have had no opportunity to hear it.
I am serving as Classroom Coordinator and assistant to the CLA instructor at Radius International. My day-to-day work includes administrative tasks, collaborating on class content and assignments, scheduling classes and communicating with guest instructors. I am also part of the onsite staff team and provide support to VP of Operations, especially during events. I enjoy building relationships with students and continue to study Spanish so that I can build relationships in the local church and community.
It is my prayer that through this training the students will be better prepared and equipped to deal with the common challenges of cross-cultural living and will be able to persevere for many years by God’s grace in the work that He gives them to do, for His glory.
