Ben and Liz Griffin
Partnering with 100Fold to share Christ through mobile technology
Two-thirds of the world’s population have mobile devices. In Burkina Faso, 14 million (out of 20 million) have mobile phones. How can we take advantage and make the message mobile?
The world is a big place – made smaller by technology – but still a big place. In different ages we have harnessed technology to fulfil the great commission whether it be the apostle Paul’s use of the Roman road system, Gutenberg’s printing press, the use of ocean-going sailing ships by William Carey, or Nate Saint’s Piper aeroplane in Ecuador.
Developments in technology have continued to take seismic leaps well into the 21st century, especially with the progress in mobile phone technology. It is in this area that we find ourselves called to minister for the Lord. Although we don’t minister in a geographical area, primarily we aim to reach the developing world. We exist wherever there is an opportunity to provide Bible teaching and resources for those with access to mobile technology.
Taking Christ to the unreached through mobile technology and equipping workers
With Liz’s background in electronics and computer science, and her desire to use these gifts for God, and with Ben’s background in Bible teaching and outreach, ministering with 100Fold seems a logical next step in serving God together, taking advantage of the mobile technology that is flooding the world; and harnessing it for the gospel.
Our burden is to see unbelievers reached with the gospel, and believers built up throughout the world, amazed at the glory of God, whilst cross-cultural workers are given the tools needed to reach the lost, teach the saved, and persevere themselves daily in glorifying God.
Partnering with 100Fold
We are part of UFM’s ministry specialising in technology known as 100Fold. It consists of a team of self-designated pointy-headed geeks whose gift is developing incredible technological ways for building God’s kingdom.
Of the two of us, Liz is the one with the computer know-how, and so Liz’s main ministry at the moment is developing a way for cross-cultural workers to access material in a myriad of languages, from a plethora of sources. As the one with the background in Bible teaching, Ben is tasked with making the work of 100Fold understandable and accessible to the everyday folk like you.
We have three grown-up children: Both Joshua and Luke have graduated from university and beginning to make their way in the world, whilst Hannah will be at Edge Hill University until 2027. Being based in the UK, we have the joy of also playing an active role in our sending church.
